What Was all the Fuss About

First, forgive me for such a fluffy blog about a fluffy subject on the night the world watched an atheletes parade just as Russia began bombing Georgia.......but even fluff has it's place, I suppose.

When the Canadian Olympic uniforms were unveiled several months ago, so many people hated them. Blogland and letters to the editor were full of condemnation. Personally, I didn't mind the uniforms. Sure, some parts put together looked like rapper gear, but it seemed obvious to me what the intention was. With the Olympics in China the goal was to appeal to the Chinese audience....hence, our country's name is written in both English and in Chinese script in colours that the Chinese people appreciate. Rather honouring to the hosts I'd think.

Anyway, I was one of millions who watched the opening ceremonies if only to see the athelete parade....though the ceremony itself was pretty spectacular....and quite frankly, I don't know what the fuss was about. I thought Canada was one of the best dressed teams there....the light weight jackets were smart, and those hats are terrific!! Let the other teams stick with the poorboy....... (remember Salt Lake City, when every country copied our Roots gear and poor boy hat??)........ we've moved on. Certainly, our uniforms were nicer than all those boring white suits. Now lets hope we win a few gold medals so we can check out the podium gear.

GO CANADA GO!!!!
